I just had to share my adorable new vintage coffee maker with you all. I love it.
My thoughtful mother took her first foray into eBay purchasing (a feat I have yet to accomplish - eBay intimidates me to no end) and bought me this classic Melitta porcelain manual drip coffee maker from a British charity shop. This is how coffee has been made in parents' house for as long as I can remember, and it results in a fabulous cup with no sludge at the bottom. My poor cafetiere has been relegated to the back of the cupboard as I enjoy my first of many 'non chewy' mugs of coffee in my own home.
Thanks Mum!

It's so cute! I haven't been brave enough to shop on e-bay either. Way to go Mum!
That's the cutest drip! I am planning to buy a Chemex drip thingy this week, maybe I'll have to look into the Melitta too :)
It's been a week for charity shopping success at our place too, but I think your coffee maker beats my silver tray! http://kitchen-maid.blogspot.com/2010/09/retail-therapy.html
Happy weekend!
It's adorable! Good old Mum.
Servicing your air conditioner regularly will preserve your power costs down. The better your air conditioning unit is running, the less resources it will use, thus, saving you moeny on energy bills. It truly is also wise to preserve your unit regularly as opposed to pay huge repair prices when it finally breaks down. A service call is very much cheaper than a replace the unit call. So cute! No idea how it works, LOL, but definitely cute! Ebay isn't hard at all, I bet you could do it!
That is just awesome!! What a great colour too!! Yeah mom!!
What a wonderful gift!!
This is the way my OH makes his tea, but we just have an ugly plastic one, which fits into a mug.
I'd love one like yours!!
How gorgeous is that - I love the colour of it too - very cool - Is your Mum available as a personal shopper or have you got her scouring the shops for more of these!
I am so jealous I could spit! Want. :)
This is SO adorable. I want one! You're a lucky girl.
Gah! That is beyond charming!
I only came to Melitta in my thirties, two decades into coffee drinking. But my oh my does it make the best cup!
I had no idea there was a ceramic edition. Off to ebay...
